The 5th grade chose to decorate a tissue box cover and present it with a box of tissues because it was a practical gift. This project allowed the students to design a cover given many choices including snowflakes, paper crafts or coloring. The students took pride in their designs and created some beautiful masterpieces for their friends at the nursing home.
The student council held a door decorating contest the week before Christmas break. The fifth grade theme was Frosty the Snowman. Although we did not win the contest, we had a great time making the snowman! We enjoyed it so much the girls created and dressed their own snowman and the boys did the same. Our theme quickly became Frosty the Snowman and Friends!
A pep rally has held for the start of the basketball season. Go Vikings!
Students in fifth grade created festive pins and attached them to personalized cards as gifts for patients in a local nursing home. Even the students who claimed that they were not good at crafts did a great job, as they thought about the smiles on the faces of the patients who would receive them.
Congratulations to Annie who placed 4th out of 233 junior varsity girls and received a medal on the podium at the Diocesan Championships. Annie also finished in 1st place at the Slippery Rock Invitational and 5th at the Dorseyville Invitational.

The Fifth Grade Students have joined the Great American Mail Race! This is a fun, hands-on activity to learn about letter writing and the different regions of the United States. Each student selected three states, completed a questionnaire about our school, and sent the completed questionnaire to a school of their choice within each state. We then wait to receive a completed questionnaire from the other schools to learn about their region, town, and school.
We have received several responses back from schools throughout the United States! We have placed them on our map in our classroom. We hope to meet our goal and receive responses from all fifty states!
A 5th Grade Tradition
the fifth grade students carried out the Thanksgiving tradition of acting out the gospel during the all-school mass. Pictures at left are the 5th grade acting out the 10 lepers being healed.
Halloween
As always, Halloween is a fun time for
the 5th grade. The students enjoyed the school students played some really fun games such as trying to eat a donut that was swinging from a string while their hands were behind their backs, a relay race with straws and candy corn, burst the balloon and more. After that, there were good treats to eat. Thank you to all who helped to organize the day for the students.
