   Great American Mail Race!

     The Fifth Grade Students

 have joined the Great

 American Mail Race! This is

 a fun, hands-on activity to

 learn about letter writing and

 the different regions of the

 United States. Each student

 selected three states,

 completed a questionnaire

about our school, and sent the

 completed questionnaire to a

 school of their choice within

each state. We then wait to

 receive a completed

 questionnaire from the

 other schools to learn about

 their region, town, and school.

   We have received several

 responses back from schools

 throughout the United States!

We have placed them on our

 map in our classroom. We

hope to meet our goal and

 receive responses from all

 fifty states!

A 5th Grade Tradition

On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving

the fifth grade students carried out the

Thanksgiving tradition of acting out the

   gospel during the all-school mass.

Pictures at left are the 5th grade acting

out the 10 lepers being healed.

Halloween

As always, Halloween is a fun time for

the 5th grade. The students enjoyed the
parade. After the parade, the middle

school students played some really fun

games such as trying to eat a donut that

was swinging from a string while their

hands were behind their backs, a relay

race with straws and candy corn, burst

the balloon and more. After that, there

  were good treats to eat.

Thank you to all who helped to organize

   the day for the students.

Middle School Project

Middle School Project continues as students research and design projects to coincide with Pittsburgh’s 250th birthday. Did you know Pittsburgh was the birthplace of Silly Putty, Zippo Lighters and the Ferris Wheel? Look for these and many more exciting stories coming to life in the halls of our middle school!

.

Heinz History Center Field Trip
The 5th grade, along with the middle school grades, traveled to the Heinz History Center as part of their Middle School Project. This year's middle school project is Pittsburgh 250, which celebrates the city of Pittsburgh's 250th birthday.

.

The fifth graders are showing off their murals they created for the Middle School Project, Pittsburgh 250.

It's A Pittsburgh Original!
The theme for our Middle School Project is Pittsburgh 250.
The Middle School students are currently researching the many Pittsburgh originals. As part of our Middle School experience we will visit the Heinz History Center’s newest exhibition, Pittsburgh: A Tradition of Innovation.
