Pinwheels for Peace

St. Ursula Students participated in Pinwheels for Peace Project on September 21, the International World Peace Day observance.  Under the direction of our Art teacher, Mrs. Pontoriero,

our students created pinwheels with messages on colorful neon paper. Pencils and tacks finished the project and the 8th graders "planted" the peace messages in front of the St. Ursula Parish marble sign on Duncan Ave.

From the Pinwheels for peace website:

Imagine…  millions of pinwheels spinning in the wind – pinwheels in the United States, Great Britain, South America, Australia, the Middle East, Canada,  Africa, Europe and Asia;  pinwheels all over the world! – big pinwheels, small pinwheels;  pinwheels of all  shapes and sizes – colorful pinwheels, decorated with drawings, paintings, collages, photographs  – pinwheels with words of peace and harmony written on them – fields of pinwheels, pinwheels along roadsides, in schoolyards, in parks, pinwheels EVERYWHERE!

Trick or Treat Soccer - Trick! Snow in October!

  Halloween weekend

  brought unexpected

  snow but that did

  not stop the

  Developmental

  soccer team from

  playing in a

  tournament. They

  had a great time.

  They had one win,

  one loss, and one

  tie. The team ended

  in second place in

  their bracket.

Trick or Treat

The annual parade had a variety of very creative costumes and the students showed them off as they walked through the school's neighborhood.

Each year the parents plan great Halloween celebrations for the students. Thank you to all of the parents for planning all of the games and providing all of the treats. As always, the kids had a great time!

Following the parade and parties, the students participated in the Monster Ball Dance-a-thon. The students raised over $3,000 for the school. Thank you to everyone who donated and those who organized this fun event.

Box Tops Results

Girls are the winners of the Box Tops contest!  Girls collected 5390 Box Tops and boys were close behind with 5260.  That’s $1064 earned for St. Ursula School!  Fantastic job to all students and families and thanks for a GREAT fall collection!  Sr. Joanita will announce the date of the jeans day for the girls.

The Feast of Saint Ursula Mass Celebrated on October21

Oh Glorious St. Ursula Instructor of the

   Young and Guardian of Virtue

Saint Ursula is represented in Christian Art

wearing a crown, as princess; has an arrow

    in her hand, the attribute of her martyrdom;

and carries a pilgrim's staff, surmounted by a

white banner with a red cross, the Christian

standard of victory. A Church was dedicated

to her in the region of Cologne. In the rise of

    universities, Ursula was considered their

patron saint. In modern times St. Ursula is

considered the Patron Saint of all Facilities

Caring for Children.  Her Feast Day is

    celebrated on October 21st.
